This weekend, (my 21st birthday weekend) is a testament to how Great our God is, and how He has everything in His hands and under His control.
Let's start with the story when it began 1 month ago.
Birthdays are especially hard on my nerves, always have been. So this year, I started preparations one month in advance. Paper lanterns were the chief decorations for my Vintage Party. I had lots of fun!
Basically, one 180 page scrap-book-paper pack supplied me with home-made cards, decorations, hand-made bingo cards and custom paper table-cloths. And everything coordinated!
I also prayed this party would be God-honoring.
Everything went well, everyone I invited could make it, and then my elderly relative in Kansas MO, became ill and started to pass away. There was nothing else to do. I told mom to cancel the party and get her suitcases packed. We bought train tickets and Mom and Dad got ready to leave the next day. For costs sake, as well as to help my grandma who is alone this weekend, I stayed. (Which in itself is pretty big for me because I do not like being in a different state from my family. )
But to my surprise my sister Emily, away at college said she was going to come in town for the weekend, and help me throw it together! All my friends began to call and ask if they can help. What can I say?
I am so blessed!
It has been pretty amazing, because there has been little stress, even though this probably should have been the most stressful birthday I have ever had. But it was committed to God a long time ago, and He has it covered.
Between staying over with my grandma, and coming home to be with my sister, I have the house cleaned and decorated. I am thankful I did my deep-cleaning during the last month!
Paper lanterns were made by the dozens!
My patch-work table cloth made from paper is fun and disposable!
Hand-made bingo cards, to play with and then for guests to take home!
My centerpiece featuring some custom Victorian Boots (there is a story here for another day), my first copy of Julia Child's French cooking, and lipsticks for party favors.
An apron serves as a runner.
So now please pray for the party tomorrow. The only thing I am worried about is that I will have 20 people to entertain without my Mom. Which is a lot for anybody to entertain! I have a feeling though that everything will work out fine, because God has Blessed this party so far!
