On this 200th Anniversry Of Pride and Prejudice...
Dear
Jane Austen,
Thank you for enriching the lives of people everywhere for
the past 200 years with the wit and irony of Pride and Prejudice. You
say what most people can never express, and we are deeply grateful for
your mark on the world. You were able to combine romance with reality,
in a way no one has been able to do after you. Sometimes we wish we knew
more about you, had more portraits of you, or more items that you
possessed. We wish that more of your letters survived, and yes, even
that you had lived to a ripe old age. Who knows what other works you
would have written? What a mystery you are, even to those who read your works and study your life. How many of us can truly say we know "Jane Austen". You who inspire and amuse to this very day, and will continue to for years to come, even the greatest of historians have questions. Yet, for the many questions that surround you, we have never felt less inclined to love you. We still count you among the best in 19th century literature. No one can doubt that you are one of the most remarkable woman in history, despite the fact that you left no autobiography. So Miss Austen, thank you for the gift of your literature. Thank you for taking us on an adventure back in time, thank you for inspiring me to create clothes from the Regency era, thank you for showing us the ever important differences between a Mr. Wickham, and a Mr. Darcy. Thank you for being a part of my education. Thank you, from me and everyone around the globe, who has ever laughed during one of your novels.
Your truly,
Miss Lexi
Well said! :)
